Communion

Once a fortnight we (at least John, Roxy, Gav and Lucie but often others) get together for what we call Communion. We have a meal, break some bread, drink some wine. It's a moment that links us with other followers of Jesus, scattered through time and place. It is one way we do church.

We start at eight with a reminder of why we come together, eat some bread, one of us shares briefly about a few sentences in the bible, then we get stuck into dinner. Over food we chat about what's really going on in our lives and then after dessert someone prays. We always finish by drinking wine together.

But why would you want to know about Communion?

One of the enduring traditions of the church, we believe that communion is all about the 'open table' - that we come, just as we are, and that anyone who wants to partake receives a warm welcome. Communion expresses one of the things we find most inspiring about Jesus, the person that it celebrates: his hospitality.  So we wanted to say if you fancy coming along, you'd be most welcome.

You're welcome to join us, welcome to bring friends, welcome to come along once and not again, welcome to take part even if you think differently about Jesus to the way we do.

Perhaps you'll want to come along one time. Or this time.
